Photo a Day: Week 6

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m behind again. Sorry! Here are the photos from week 6. I chose the theme of love in honor of Valentines Day! Some are a little more clearly about “love” than others so if you click on each photo it will bring you to my flickr page where I’ve written a fuller description of each image.

Okay, so now we are more or less caught back up. Here are last weeks photos! The theme for last week was orange (or things that rhyme with orange, which ever came first…). As always, you can click through each photo to get to my flickr page and a fuller description of each one.

Photo a Day: Week 4

As promised, here is week 4 of my photos. This is the week that includes the “Jess gets really sick and almost dies” photos. And in spite of my near death experience, I still managed to take a photo every day. Am I dedicated or what? Click through each photo for a full description on my flickr site.

Photo a Day: Week 3

Okay, so late doesn’t even begin to describe this post. However, there are two very good reasons why. First, as I mentioned before, we (my Mom, Dad, brother and hubby) took a family vacation to the Dominican Republic from January 19-26. Second, on January 23 I got more sick than I have been in my life so far. I spiked a fever of 101 and had some other totally gross and disgusting bodily things going on (since this is a family type blog, I’ll refrain from more colorful details). When I went down to the infirmary in the hotel where we were staying, they promptly hooked me up to an IV (massive dehydration). As much fun as being sick in another country was, flying back to the US while still sick was even more fun! Today is the first day I’ve actually really felt okay in the past week and a half. So now it is time to start catching up with my life and getting things back on track!

Since I knew we were leaving on vacation, I deliberately left the theme of the photos for week three open. They are sort of a mish-mash of things but hopefully interesting nonetheless. If you click on any of the photos, it will take you to my flickr site where I’ve put more of a description on each one. Enjoy!

Photo a Day: Week 2

Yikes! Two weeks in a row where I’m a day late posting this! Shame on me!!

Well, the theme for this week was “Red”. How did I do?

The theme for this next week is open for one very special reason: we are going on a family vacation to the Dominican Republic!! I’m so excited! Goodbye snow, hello sunny and 80 degrees! So sadly I won’t be able to post for about a week and a half. Don’t worry – I promise to keep up with the project. I just won’t have an internet connection there. I’ll be sitting on a beach sipping floofy drinks with umbrellas in them. Try not to hate me too much.

Photo a Day: Week 1

Sorry this update is a day late! Flickr has been having the hiccups and was slow and temperamental yesterday! But it seems to be working fine now!

So my first theme was Ice and Snow. It was a good week for it, as we got almost 2 feet of snow just before the new year. But near the end of the week, I decided to stretch a bit and see what would happen.

Happy 2008!

Happy New Year Everyone! I can’t believe it is 2008! This is going to be a big year for me. There is so much going on, so many fun things to do, so many new adventures to have! I can’t wait! And one of the things I’ve decided to take on is to commit myself to a “One-a-Day” project. Each day I will post at least one new photograph. Now there will be several weeks where I won’t have access to a computer so I’ll have to update a few days or even a week all at once. But that doesn’t mean I won’t still be taking new pictures!

So here is my photo for today:

January 1, 2008 - Icicle Teeth

We have just been slammed with snow this month. So much so that we had to cancel our New Year’s Eve plans because the roads were too bad! This morning the icicles coming off the roof were a bit more than just scary! They were downright terrifying! We are already totally sick of this winter. I want it to be spring!!! I hope everyone is snuggled up some place warm and safe today (yes, it is snowing here AGAIN) and that you are enjoying the last days of vacation!

AMENDMENT – Upon reflection, I’ve decided I’ll just update this site once a week with my One-a-Day photos.  I’ll still post them on my flickr page everyday, but I don’t want to overload this blog.  So Tuesdays are now One-A-Day Weekly Updates.  And the theme for this week is snow (seeing as we got another foot of it last night…)

Holiday 2007 Barbie

Holiday Barbie 2007

Some of you may be wondering why on earth I would be posting a photo of a Barbie doll. Well, there is actually a very good reason. You see, it is one of my photographs that adorns the outside of the box!!

more frost

This is the original photo. I’d posted it on flickr back in 2005. And then about a year ago, out of the blue, this lovely woman from Matel emailed me and said she’d seen the image online and would I be willing to sell it to her? And that, as they say, was that. She bought the image and used it on the box! This is the photo she sent me of the box while they were still working on it. But its very close to how it came out! You can see more images of both the Barbie and the box over at amazon (watch the little movie!). Its just amazing the way things work out sometimes, isn’t it? Yay for flickr.com!

Restored Baby Photo

A client came to me recently with this photo of herself as a baby. Isn’t she adorable?

Baby Photo BEFORE

She was so distraught because it was the not only the only copy she had of this image, it was the only one she had of herself as a baby AT ALL! And there was a huge scratch in it! She told me that years before (20 or so), she’d asked another photography studio if they could do anything to fix it. They told her no, it was impossible. Well, its not impossible any more! Now there is Photoshop!!

Baby Photo AFTER

No more scratch! No more strange coloring and flaking off surface. With something like this where you can see the surface of the photo flaking away, it is especially important to have your image preserved as soon as possible. Now, instead of trying to see the baby through all the marks, all you see is the adorable baby!
